What to wear to an October Wedding in NY?

I live in California and have only been to New York during the summer. I don’t know what the weather is like in October and I think it might be freezing! So what do I wear to a wedding? A dress with leggings? That doesn’t seem formal enough. Also, do I wear a long coat? Also, I’ve never been to a wedding held at a church. So if you could help me there. Thank you so much.

What a coincidence! This past October I went to New York for a wedding. It was very cold when I went (It was kind of late October), and very windy. I think you should wear a dress with sheer tights, and you’ll probably be able to wear a long coat on the way to the wedding. Don’t wear the coat at the wedding. Hope this helps!
